Confirmation
Through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, Confirmation strengthens and seals the grace received at baptism. Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. . . . We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service.

Teens - 9th through 12th Grade
To be eligible to receive Confirmation, students must complete two consecutive years of Catholic Faith Formation. Either through attending private Catholic school as early as 8th grade or St. Brendan’s Youth Faith Formation programs as early as 7th grade.
Children attending a private Catholic school must request and provide a letter verifying their enrollment and good standing in their two consecutive years of religious education at their school.
To receive Confirmation at St. Brendan:
- Register online, for Confirmation in 9th grade or older
- Complete an overnight retreat, service project, and all required paperwork.

Adults
Join OCIAAdults participate in the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA), a faith journey that combines catechesis, prayer, and liturgical rites.
The OCIA process typically takes several months to more than one full liturgical year, depending on one’s journey.
Unbaptized Persons (Catechumens):
Participate in the full OCIA process, including periods of inquiry, formation, purification during Lent, celebration of the sacraments at Easter and post-baptismal reflection (mystagogy).
Baptized Christians (Candidates):
Follow an adapted OCIA process that leads to a profession of faith, confirmation and Eucharist. Baptism is not repeated.

Sponsors - Request a Letter of Good Standing
Request a LetterGodparents and Confirmation Sponsors require a letter of good standing from the parish where they are registered. The Catholic Church’s Code of Canon Law states that godparents and sponsors must:
- Be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Have received the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation
- If married, be in a valid sacramental marriage
- Not be bound by canonical penalties
- Not be the father or mother (of one being baptized)
St. Brendan asks that you be a registered and active member with the parish for at least 3 months prior to us issuing a letter.
An active member:
- Attends Mass on a regular basis,
- Supports the parish through the giving of time, talent, and treasure (use of offertory envelopes or online giving)
- Receives regular mailings and communications from the parish
