Every parish in the Archdiocese of Atlanta has been asked by Archbishop Hartmayer to implement the “Disciple Maker Index” (DMI) survey to better understand the opinions of their parishioners. DMI was developed in 2014 by the Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI), a national pastoral leadership organization. To date, eighty-six dioceses, 7,000 parishes and 685,000 parishioners have participated in the survey.
What are the objectives of the survey?
Help St. Brendan pastoral leadership obtain input for the vision of the ideal Catholic community we are trying to create and enable data-driven decisions to help our parishioners grow in their faith.
What kind of questions are asked?
- Does St. Brendan help you connect with local Catholic community and grow spiritually?
- Does St. Brendan equip you to have conversations about faith with family and friends?
- What values best describe the culture of St. Brendan the Navigator?
- What are the demographics of our parish?
- All questions are “check the box”. There are no “fill in the blank” written answers, or “Other Comments” sections.
How and when do I take the DMI Survey?
The survey is online at website: https://portal.catholicleaders.org/d/xya1dx and is open until April 6. The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and Spanish language questions are avaialable.
Not comfortable answering questions?
- You may skip any questions you are not comfortable answering.
- Completed surveys are completely anonymous. Your submittal will be forwarded directly to CLI in Philadelphia.
- No one in the parish or diocese will have access to the names of survey participants.
When will St. Brendan receive the results?
During the summer of 2025 St. Brendan will receive the total number of responses (from our parishioners) to each answer. CLI will also provide their interpretations of the responses.
Who should I contact if I have technical issues?

Who should take the survey/questionnaire?
- All parishioners 18 years and older.
- Responses are not limited to one per household.
