“I am exceedingly grateful to the Lord for this extraordinary opportunity to meet and serve the parish family here at St. Brendan's.” - Fr. Paul Alger, L.C.
In June 2017 St. Brendan's was pleased to welcome Father Paul Alger, L.C. to our parish in the role of parochial vicar. Father Paul will be working closely with our youth Faith Formation programs here at St. Brendan's in addition to his other liturgical responsibilities. In his own words, meet Father Paul:
“Though born in Huntsville, Alabama, the sixth of nine children, I was raised in Augusta, Georgia, from the age of four. Immediately after having graduated from the Alleluia Community School, I entered the novitiate of the Legionaries of Christ at the age of 18 on June 6th, 2001. My preparation for perpetual religious profession, which took place October 4, 2009, and subsequent diaconate and priestly ordination in 2014, occasioned many cultural experiences and academic pursuits, culminating in a masters degree in philosophy and a bachelors degree in theology from the Pontifical Athenaeum, Regina Apostolorum.
Since my ordination to the priesthood I have been working as the Chaplain to Pinecrest Academy's high school, which complimented beautifully my experience in Dublin, Ireland, where I worked for three and a half years at a boarding school for middle school aged boys who wanted to learn English. While studying in Rome, Italy, I had many opportunities to assist with the youth work at Santa Maria delle Grazie, a parish found literally in the shadow of St. Peter's Basilica.
Although I have helped parishes in the Archdiocese of Atlanta here and there, working full-time at a parish will be an incredible learning experience, and I look forward to building St. Brendan's community one friendship in Christ at a time.”
