To properly prepare for the sacraments of First Eucharist and Reconciliation, all learners must complete two years of faith formation (typically 1st and 2nd grade, but learners may be older). In addition to faith formation classes the second year of preparation also includes a take-home packet and several parent/child workshops.
Catholic school students are asked to register for the sacrament using a Faith Formation registration form and are required to complete all requirements except for attending Faith Formation classes at the parish.
Summary of Requirements
- Baptized in a Catholic or Christian Church. In the case of another Christian Church, please bring this to the attention of the Faith Formation staff so that it can be verified that baptism in this denomination is recognized.
- A copy of the child’s baptismal certificate must be presented.
- Registered parishioners of St. Brendan.
- Completion of two consecutive years of Faith Formation.
- Weekly attendance at Sunday Mass.
- Parent attendance at mandatory workshops.
- Completion of sacramental take-home packet (First Eucharist/Reconciliation).
