Good Samaritan Ministry is St. Brendan’s parish outreach to serve the poor and needy in our church and neighborhood. Its emphasis is serving people in need with a person-to-person approach.

The Emergency Assistance Hotline is 770-205-2324.

This ministry started in May 2000 and has been serving the poor and needy in Forsyth County since then.

We work in collaboration with other social service agencies in Forsyth County. Some of these include:

  • Forsyth County Senior Center: Meals on Wheels delivery of noon meal to needy elders/homebound.
  • The Place of Forsyth County: United Way agency offering financial assistance, food pantry, thrift store.
  • Child Advocacy Center (CAC): Assistance for children in abusive settings.
  • Department of Children and Family Services (DFCS)
  • St. Vincent de Paul conference at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

We have three groupings of activities:

1. Emergency Assistance: We offer financial and social service resources to persons in need who contact us on our St. Brendan Hotline or are referred to us by St. Vincent de Paul or other agencies.

2. Community Service Projects including:

  • Food Collection by ministry groups to benefit our St. Joseph’s Food Pantry on the Parish campus
  • Annual Coat Drive to benefit The Place of Forsyth County
  • Lenten Soup Supper to benefit Whispering Hope.
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Christmas Giving Tree that provides gifts for needy families, seniors, and others in our community.

3. Outreach Activities: various outreach activities including Parishioner visits to residents at Assissted Living and Nursing Homes within the Parish boundaries, leading weekly Rosary services and conducting a Bingo activity for Nursing Home residents.
