BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY

Purpose: To offer care and support and education to those who have experienced grief due to the death of a significant person in their lives.
Responsibilities: To send quarterly notes or cards to the families at St. Brendan’s parish who have had the death of a significant person to offer prayerful remembrance and support. To offer 5 or 6 weekly Good Grief Sessions in the spring and fall to provide grief education and support to parish members who have had the death of a significant person. To offer support to parish in setting up activities for those dealing with grief.
Helpful Attributes: Compassionate, caring, listening and communication skills, personal experience with grief.
Training & Time Commitment: New facilitators must complete the grief education program plus meet with Ministry leaders to discuss their interest and desire,  and discussion session with those who want to do grief note/card writing. Time commitment is how much the volunteer can be available for the Good Grief sessions, to participate in activities offered by the parish for those dealing with grief, or to do grief note/card writing.
