Blood Drive – Sunday, June 24

Blood Drive at St. Brendan’s – Our next blood drive is Sunday, June 24 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Social Hall.  We have been able to work with the local American Red Cross center to arrange for more staff then we have had in the past and to move the drive inside.  This should help to decrease wait times.  Please join us in the Social Hall to help this very worthy cause.

Lessons Learning in Haiti – From the Mouths of Babes

Deacon Roger’s homily this weekend has a reference to a very emotional and spiritually challenging article on the National Catholic Reporter web site. Mercy Sr. Karen Schneider’s report starts off with:

I was fortunate enough to be in Haiti twice, once just three days after the earthquake and a second time during the third week post earthquake. My mind is filled with unforgettable experiences, but I want the children of Haiti to speak for themselves, so I will tell you their stories. Each one holds an important lesson for me and, quite possibly, for you, as well. Each child has a unique perception … about life … about Haiti’s political reality … about faith … about family … about acceptance and most of all, about hope.
