AFF News Update Oct 10

It's almost here: The Year of Faith! Tomorrow, October 11, is the big day when the Year begins. Archbishop Wilton Gregory will open the Year with a Celebration of the Eucharist at the Cathedral of Christ the King at 12:10 p.m. Here at St. Brendan's, we'll open the Year with a special bilingual Mass at 6 p.m. Afterward, we'll have refreshments in the narthex, along with a table of free, faith-focused literature; a book table with faith-building resources for purchase; and a table with Rosaries and religious jewelry for sale. Hope to see you there!

Time spent before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is always time well spent, leading to a great harvest of blessing for the one praying, for the Church, and for the world. During last summer's Fortnight for Freedom our parish's extended season of Eucharistic Adoration was such a great blessing that we have now scheduled bimonthly seasons of prayer and adoration for the coming year.

The next such season is coming up soon: In anticipation of our celebration of the Feasts of All Saints and All Souls Nov. 1 and 2), we'll have 48-hour Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Sebastian Chapel from 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31 (All Saints Vigil Mass at 7 p.m.) Please join us in committing to spend an hour or more in Adoration during this time. Our theme: Praying for the Faithful Departed. Prayer literature will be provided. Signing up is easy and takes only 60 seconds! Go online to http://www.stbrendansatl.com/adoration-signup/ and choose your date and time.

Meanwhile, our national Election Day is fast approaching. We invite you to join us in a Prayer Vigil for Our Nation with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the church, from 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, through 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, the day of our national elections. All are invited to spend some time before the Blessed Sacrament in Adoration and silent prayer for our country’s future. To sign up for a specific hour, go online to http://www.stbrendansatl.com/adoration-signup/ and choose your date and time. If you can’t commit to a particular time, please come whenever you can.

So many opportunities at St. Brendan's to grow deeper in faith and closer to Our Lord!

God bless,

Paul
