October's here, with a wonderful bouquet of special days on the Church calendar: St. Therese's day (Oct. 1), the Feast of the Guardian Angels (2), St. Francis of Assisi (4), St. Teresa of Avila (15), St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (16), St. Ignatius of Antioch (17), St Luke the Evangelist (18), St. Paul of the Cross (20), St. Anthony Mary Claret (24), and more–and the month winds up, of course, with the Vigil of All Saints' Day (31–popularly known as Halloween, from "All Hallows' Eve"). Wow! So many great days to celebrate!
This week in AFF at St. Brendan's:
Important announcement! St. Brendan's will be observing a new series of seasons of extended Eucharistic Adoration in St. Sebastian Chapel. The first season will be during the days leading up to All Saints' Day and All Souls' Days, with a focus on praying with the saints and praying for the faithful departed. We need adorers to sign up for an hour or more beginning Monday, Oct 29, at 7 p.m., through Wednesday, October 31, at 7 p.m. If you'd like to sign up to be an adorer during that time, go to http://www.stbrendansatl.com/adoration-signup/.
Finally, don't forget: The Year of Faith begins next week, Thursday, October 11! We'll have a special bilingual Mass at 6 p.m. that evening to open the Year, along with a booktable in the narthex with faith formation resources for purchase, along with free pamphlets and prayer cards. Hope to see you there!
